2 days off...again :-)

My days off go by so fast since I do not spend them on myself.

Some of you know what I mean, living with parents and helping them with their every day activities. Cuts into time I would like to do something for myself.

I'm not really bothered by not having much time for myself, though at the top of my own Golden Years...life is an adjustment. Imagine 3 o-l-d people living together...each one set in their ways. A Life like this can be interesting to say the least.

I mean my parents will not live forever so I want to spend as much time with them as I can. If I have to give up some things...OK, I can live with that. After all, I have a place to live, food to eat, and even a vehicle to drive...AND... no rent or car payments etc. to make!!

I don't freeload, I pull my weight doing things that their health will not allow them to do. I got a job now, have adjusted to it - they have too.

All in All...our lives go on...comfortably.

Spend time with your parents - give up some of your free time...they deserve it. After all they will not be around forever...and someday YOU will be in the same situation!

Activites for my day off

I am OFF for 2 days, rain clouds moving in but don't think we will get any rain, cooler temps hopefully since yesterday's temp was 96. I got a 'junk metal' trip to do with my dad. On my last 2 days off, we were going to it then but had some t-r-e-e limb activity. I had only been home for maybe 30 mins when CRASH !! My mom and I ran outside thinking my dad had fallen off a ladder. WRONG...and we were glad too! The old mesquite tree we always parked the truck under had lost a big limb - right into the truck's front windshield, scratching up the hood and throwing in some dings for good measure. Damages could have been much worse though, so we kind of considered ourselves lucky though a little poorer when all was taken care of. Will put a photo here when I figure out how to do that kind of stuff. Memories...ya got 2 love 'em! My best memory from these 2 'broken windshield off days' was that my son and daughter-in-law were visiting for a week! We all went out to eat Golden Corral where everyone could get what they wanted and then we visited for at least an hour afterwards. My parents were impressed with Sarah and they talked about their meal for quite a while when we got home. Yeah they had met her when they got married but had not really been able to chat with her, so hopefully their anniversary gift to her were stories of their past - which she said she enjoyed hearing. WE ALL Thank You Sarah! My son has himself a great lady with a 'down to earth' attitude about things...that's what I really like about her :-)
